Celestron has been one of the most well-known producers of astronomic and sports optics, telescope mounts and accessories for amateur astronomy for more than five decades. And everything at Celestron began because of a German optics invention by Bernhard Schmidt. Celestron was the first to realise the global importance of this revolutionary telescope design. The mass production of „Schmidt-Cassegrain“-type telescopes made telescopes that combine a large aperture with a compact form available to the general public for the first time. Thus, an idea that came from Germany means that Celestron can now be called the largest supplier of amateur telescopes in the world.
